Biography of Jhamak Ghimire

 

Jhamak Ghimire is a famous Nepali writer. She was born to Krishna Prasad Ghimire and Asa Devi Ghimire in 1980 in the village of Kachide in Dhankuta Municipality of Dhankuta district. She was born with cerebral palsy and writes with her left foot. She is columnist in a national newspaper. Jhamk Ghimire had been awarded with the Madan Puraskar for her auto-biography Jiwan Kada Ki Phool.

 Sankalpa, Aafnai Chita Agni Shikhatira, Manchhe Bhitraka Yoddaharu and Quaati are some of her poetry works. Awasan Pachhiko Aagaman is her miscellaneous work that includes short stories, poems, daily diaries, songs, essays etc. Jhamak has written her auto-biography named Jiwan Kada Ki Phool for which she was awarded with the most prestigious Madan Puraskar. Besides, she has received numerous awards and prizes, such as Kabita Ram Bal Sahitya Prativa Puraskar 2055, Aswikrit Bichar Sahitya Puraskar 2056 etc.

Biography of APJ Abdul Kalam

 

Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam better known as APJ Abdul Kalam (15 October 1931 - 27 July 2015) was the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007. A career scientist turned statesman, Kalam was born and raised in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, and studied physics and aerospace engineering. He spent the next four decades as a scientist and science administrator, mainly at the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and was intimately involved in India's civilian space programme and military missile development efforts. He thus came to be known as the Missile Man of India for his work on the development of ballistic missile and launch vehicle technology. He also played a pivotal organizational, technical, and political role in India's Pokhran-Il nuclear tests in 1998, the first since the original nuclear test by India in 1974.

Kalam was elected as the 11th President of India in 2002 with the support of both the rulling Bharatiya Janata Party and the then opposition Indian National Congress. Widely referred to as the "People's President", he returned to his civilian life of education, writing and public service after a single term. He was a recipient of several prestigious awards, including the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honour.

While delivering a lecture at  Institute of Management Shillong, Kalam collapsed and died from apparent cardiac arrest on 27 July, 2015, aged 83. Thousands including national-level dignitaries attended the funeral ceremony held in his hometown of Rameswaram, where he was buried with full state honours.

Biography of Narayan Gopal Guruvacharya

 

Narayn Gopal Guruvacharya is the most prominent and popular singer and composer in the history of Nepali music. He is popularly referred to as "Swar Samrat" in Nepali music. He is also known as "Tragedy King".

 He was born on October 4, 1939 to a Newar family in Kathmandu. His father was Asha Gopal Guruvacharya and mother was Ram Devi Guruvacharya. He had six brothers and four sisters. He married Pemala Lama in 1971.

 He has sung over 500 songs for films, operas, dramas and others. Most of his songs are melodies. It is said that he was very selective about which songs he sang. Some of his most popular songs include Euta manchheko mayale kati, Yo samjhine man chha, Kehi mitho baata gara and several others.

 Narayan Gopal, who has enthralled millions of listeners by his immortal melodies has been awarded several national honours. He received the Radio Nepal Best Singer Award in 1967, Gorkha Dakshin Bahu IV in 1976, Indra Rajya Laxmi Award in 1983, Chhinalata Award for vocals in 1987, Trishakti Patta third (awarded posthumously) in 1990 and many more.

 In his singing career, he sang for eighteen movies and recorded over one hundred and fifty-seven songs. On December 5, 1990, at the age of 51, he died from complications of diabetes in Bir Hospital, Kathmandu.
